The industrial area of the US started gaining momentum right after the second world war. This is was as a result of various manufacturing ventures and many plants were established at that time.
Many indistrial towns are polluted (air and water, mostly) from the industy, usually factories, that are there. There also tend to be many people due to the demand for work, so it can get pretty corwded, which can lead to un-sanitary conditions very easily.
It is true that when mining was no longer profitable, and mines stopped producing, the mining towns became ghost towns. The reason was because the people that lived in the town had to leave the area looking for work.
Anglia UK has many different towns and cities. Some of the main urban cities include Peterborough, Norwich, and Cambridge. Smaller towns such as Ely and Lowestoft are also scattered around in the area.
