should be zero. Let's see:

3 minus 2.5 = 0.5

2.5 minus 3 = -0.5

The difference is not zero.

Also, if 2.5 is equal to 3, then their ratio ... the result of division ... should be 1 .

Let's see:

2.5 / 3 = 5/6

3 / 2.5 = 6/5 or 1.2

The ratio is not 1.

Also, if 2.5 is equal to 3, then their squares should be equal, and their product

should be equal to the square of either one. Let's see:

(2.5)2 = 6.25

(3)2 = 9

Their squares are not equal.

(2.5) x (3) = 7.5

Their product is not equal to the square of either one.

So I guess 2.5 is not equal to 3. Maybe that's part of the reason why they look

different, use different digits when they're written down, have different spoken

names, and every time you substitute one for the other in any kind of math operation,

the result always changes.
