For any number to be a factor of another number, the second number must be divisible by (ie a multiple of) the first number.

To check for divisibility by 3 add the digits of the number together and if this sum is divisible by 3, then so is the original number.

250 → 2 + 5 + 0 = 7; 7 is not divisible by 3, so 250 is not divisible by 3 → 3 is not a factor of 250.

The factors of 250 are: 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 125, 250.
