Composite numbers can be divided evenly by numbers other than 1 or itself.

For example 12 can be divided evenly by 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12.

40 can be divided evenly by 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10..........etc so it is a composite number

41 can be divided evenly by 1 and 41 only so it is not a composite number, it's a Prime number
