Being that there is no equal sign in either of these, you cannot tell. It is hard to figure out what is equal to what. If the equal sign is in the right spot on each of these, they would be.

8x + 7y = 1

-40x = 35y + 1

How do you solve 8 parentheses 1 plus 5x parentheses plus 5 equals 13 plus 5x?

8(1+5x) +5 = 13+5x => 8+40x + 5 = 13 +5x => 13+40x = 13+5x => 13-13+40x = 13-13+5x => 40x = 5x => 40x - 5x = 0 => 35x = 0 => 35x/35 = 0/35 => x = 0

How do you solve X-2x equals 3x-43x plus 1?

For x-2x= 3x-43x+1 x-2x= -x and 3x-43x+1 = -40x+1 so -x= -40x+1 subtract -x from both sides 0= -39x +1 -1 = -39x so 1=39x so x=1/39
