Depends on the pyramid. A pyramid with a square (or quadrilateral) base would indeed have 8 edges, but a pyramid can have any other polygon as a base.Depends on the pyramid. A pyramid with a triangular base is a tetrahedron
triangular pyramidAnswer:a pyramid with a triangular base is a tetrahedron
A cone has a circular base while a pyramid has a square (rectangular) base.
This is called a pyramid. The base is very wide and top is very, very narrow.
Expansive population pyramid: wide base and narrow top, indicating high birth and death rates. Constrictive population pyramid: narrow base and wider top, showing low birth and death rates. Stationary population pyramid: nearly equal widths at all age groups, suggesting stable birth and death rates.
Biomass. Pyramids of biomass and number are scientific models to represent all the things eaten in a foodchain. Pyramids of number are flawed as a great many insects may feed on a tree, for example, producing a narrow base to the pyramid. Pyramids of biomass are a better model as they show the dry mass of each part of the food chain and give a better indication of the energy passed between trophic layers. Biomass pyramids show the abundance of organisms at each trophic level.
Biomass - the total dry weight of the organisms in a trophic levelBiomass Pyramid - a diagram showing the biomass at each trophic level of a food chainA pyramid of biomass shows energy lost in each trophic level while a pyramid of numbers shows the numbers of the organisms in each trophic level
If a biomass pyramid contains 400 kilograms of wheat at its base, 4 kilograms of human tissue would exist at the fourth topic level.
Rapid growthpopulation
The lateral sides of a pyramid are going to be more steep if the size of the base is decreased. The pyramid will not be stable enough to stand on its own.
The trophic levels are stacked in blocks, with the block representing producers forming the foundation of the pyramid. The size of the block is proportional to the biomass in each trophic level. The pyramid owes its steep shape to the loss of 90% or so of the energy with each food transfer in the chain. Found in my BIO 100 book. By Campbell Reece Simon.
Pyramids have an extraordinarily wide base and an extraordinarily narrow top - this designis very stable.
Pyramid is the name given to that particular geometric shape. If the sides were all equal length it would be called a cube .
A pyramid (3D)! Some examples: - triangular base pyramid - square base pyramid - rectangular base pyramid - cone
If the organisms in a food chain are arranged according to trophic levels, they form a pyramid, with a broad base representing the primary producers and usually only a few individuals in the highest part of the pyramid. Also known as a "pyramid of numbers," an ecological pyramid is a way of describing the distribution of energy, biomass, or individuals among the different levels of ecosystem structure.
