Although there is no official "Metric Gallon" there are those in the UK and the US who propose a metrication using the US and Imperial terminology. This means that a metric Pint is equal to 500 ml, a metric quart 1 litre and a metric gallon 4 litres etc. This would mean that full metric systems would be used and the traditional terminology would be kept for cultural reasons.
