There are regular and irregular pyramids. The famous ones at Gizeh are regular,

but just because it's a pyramid, it doesn't necessarily have to be regular.

Which solid figure is not a prism?

A regular polyhedron (other than a hexahedron), any pyramid, as well as most irregular polyhedra.

Is a rectangular pyramid is a polyhedron?

Yes. A polyhedron is a geometric shape with flat surfaces and straight edges, so a a pyramid with a rectangular base qualifies as a polyhedron. It is however not a regular polyhedron, which would require all the faces to be the same shape and size. To change your pyramid to a regular polyhedron you'd have to turn it into a tetrahedron.

Is a triangular pyramid a regular polyhedron?

Yes and its names is a tetrahedron.

What is the regular polyhedron?

A regular polyhedron has equal size faces as in the case of a tetrahedron which is a triangular base pyramid that has 4 equilateral triangle faces.

What does the word regular polyhedron mean?

A solid figure with many sides such as a pyramid

What is a polyhedron in which one face can be any polygon and the lateral faces are triangles that meet at a common vertex?

A pyramid has a polygonal base with all other sides being triangles. As the Egyptians famously demonstrated, a common pyramid has a square base with four triangles meeting at a vertex, but any polygon - regular or irregular - can be used as the base of such a polyhedron.

What shapes go in the category of irregular polyhedra?

A polyhedron is a plane shape, enclosing a single space, which is bounded by straight lines. If ALL angles and ALL sides are equal, then it is a regular polyhedron. All other polyhedra are irregular.Note that if any of the sides is not straight then the shape is not a polyhedron at all, and so cannot be an irregular polyhedron.A polyhedron is a plane shape, enclosing a single space, which is bounded by straight lines. If ALL angles and ALL sides are equal, then it is a regular polyhedron. How is a hexagonal pyramid a polyhedron?

A polyhedron is a simply connected 3-dimensional shape whose faces are all regular polygons. A hexagonal pyramid is a special case in which one face is a hexagon and six faces are triangles.

What are faces of a congruent regular polygon?

A regular polygon has equal sides and angles. A polygon has a surface area but a polyhedron has many faces as for example a pyramid.

Is the pyramid a polyhedron?

Yes.

Is a pymarid a polyhedron?

No, but a pyramid is.

Why is a pyramid a polyhedron?

A pyramid, as well as any other solid figure bounded by plane polygons or faces, is a polyhedron.
