According to his book, The One That Got Away, he was married and had a daughter, though the accuracy of Ryan's recollections have been put into question many times.
Chris Ryan left the SAS in 1994. Ryan made history with the longest escape and evasion by a SAS trooper or any other soldier when the ill-fated Bravo Two Zero patrol in Iraq got into problems during the First Gulf War. During his escape he suffered injuries and never returned to operational duties. Instead he trained recruits until finally being honourably discharged from the SAS in 1994.
Chris Ryan began his career as a writer after leaving the British SAS in 1994. Since then, he has written multiple successful books in the thriller and non-fiction genres.
The main characters in "Fault Line" by Chris Ryan are Danny Black, a former SAS trooper, and Sophia Gold, an MI6 intelligence officer. The story follows their mission to stop a devastating terrorist attack in London while dealing with personal struggles and complex relationships.
The second book in Chris Ryans' Geordie Sharp series is Zero Option.
"Flash Flood" by Chris Ryan is a novel that follows former SAS Sergeant Joe Mansfield as he must infiltrate a Colombian drug cartel after a flash flood unleashes chaos in the region. Mansfield faces dangerous obstacles and a race against time to complete his mission before the cartel's ruthless leaders discover his true identity. As he navigates through treacherous terrain and hazardous situations, Mansfield must rely on his training and skills to survive and achieve his objective.

Ex SAS coporal Chris Ryan seems to be a bit of a watch fanatic on the quiet. There always seems to be a lingering wrist shot in most of his TV work. So far watches I have spotted Chris wearing are:- Panerai Luminor Submersible (PAM 25) Panerai Luminor Sub 1000m Rolex Submariner Omega Seamaster Chronograph IWC Big Pilot These watches all fall into the diving/pilots/sports catergories to suit Chris' action exploits. They also seem to demonstrate the successful nature of Chris' book and TV work since leaving the army as they collectively would cost upwards of £20k to buy !
To be in the SAS... you are a exceptional soldier who goes on to do further training and sees if you have 'got what it takes'. SAS is mainly about self- reliance so i'd imagine you'd need to be a cook, engineer, hunter, survivalist ect as well as your combat training, marksman, gunner, motor man, tactician ect
