Surface area is ONE thing that can affect how fast an object falls.

Two forces determine how fast an object falls - the force of gravity and the opposing drag on the object from the medium it is falling through.

In the case of an object falling in a vacuum, there is no drag so the object falls strictly according to the law of gravity.

If an object is dropped through a fluid such as air or water, it can reach a terminal velocity where the force of gravity is exactly counterbalanced by the opposing drag on the object. In this case acceleration ceases - although motion does not. In other words, the object continues to fall, but it doesn't speed up. Drag force is a function of object velocity, viscosity of the fluid it is falling through, the surface area of the falling object, the surface roughness of the falling object, and the geometry of the falling object (spheres usually have less drag than cubes for example).

How do you find the surface area of a 3d object?

It depends, but in let's look at a simple example to help you see how. How would you find the surface area of a cube. Find the surface area of one of the faces and since there are six of those, multiply it by 6. For example, a 2x2x2 cube. Each face has a surface area of 4 and there are 6 of them so the total surface area is 24 units. We do the same thing with other 3d objects, but it may be harder to find the surface area of faces. In face, sometimes there are no faces and we may need calculus to find the surface area.

Does 1 2 3 give a triangular number?

There is no such thing as a "triangular" number (as a number), a triangular number or triangle number counts the objects that can form an equilateral triangle. One object can and Three objects can but not Two objects.

Is it better to have a big surface area with a small volume or small surface area with a big volume?

It doesnt matter at all, because the volume immobilizes the size of the needed surface to cover the whole thing in order to view it as a separated 'space'. The shape of the whole thing has no influence at all. The bigger the volume, the larger the surface & vice versa.

What is similar thing about surface area and volume?

On a very basic level, surface area and volume are both ways to measure 3-demensional figures.

How does a small surface area per unit volume help cacti live in areas that are dry for long periods of time?

Any living thing that has a low surface area per unit of volume will lose less moisture to evaporation than a living thing with a high surface area to volume ratio.

How do you find the perimeter of a cube?

There no such thing as perimeter of 3D objects . Generally perimeter is for 2D objects but you can find the surface are of a cube if you wished to ask that. Surface area of cube is - 6 x side x side.

What is the force of gravity on an objects surface called?

Gravity acts on an entire object, not just on its surface. I don't think there is any physical relevance to investigate only the gravity on a surface, and such a thing definitely doesn't have a special name.

Does lighter objects fall down faster then heavier objects?

No lighter things do not fall faster than heavier things. In a vacuum they will fall at the same speed. Normally the heavier thing will fall down faster because of its weight. Sometimes the lighter thing falls faster depending on the air resistance.

Does the earth have stronger gravity tha the moon?

Gravity is a thing that goes on between two objects, not just one. YOU ... or any other object ... weigh about 6.04 times as much on the Earth's surface as you weigh on the Moon's surface.
