Least common multiple of 30 and 21?

30=3x2x5
21=7x3

The LCM is 7x5x3x2.

The method used look at the exponents on each factor. In this case they are all 1. Now take the smallest exponent of each factor and multiply the numbers with those exponents together.
They only common factor is 3 and we use it but only once.
