P = Number of Pigeons
H = Number of Hedgehogs
A Pigeon (P) has 1 head and 2 feet
A hedgehog (H) has 1 head and 4 feet
Thus the total number of heads (36) = P + H = 36, and
the total number of feet = 2P + 4H = 100
Rearranging the first expression gives
P = 36 - H
Substituting this into the second expression gives
2(36 - H) + 4H = 100
72 - 2H +4H = 100, simplyfying and taking 72 off both sides gives
2H + 72 - 72 = 100 - 72, thus
2H = 28, thus
H = 14 (i.e. there are 14 hedgehogs)
From the number of heads we know there are 36 creatures (P + H = 36), thus there must be 22 Pigeons.
100
I personally think that hibernating hedgehogs live in their very own nest, howvere I am not 100% sure with this !
there are 80 goats and 20 chickens.
There are 5n chickens and 20-3n rabbits, for n = 1,2,3,4,5 or 6.
To find the area of a square, you multiply the length by the width. In this case, the area of a 100 feet by 100 feet square would be 100 feet x 100 feet = 10,000 square feet. So, there are 10,000 square feet in an area that is 100 feet by 100 feet.
If the dimensions are in feet then it is: 100*100 = 10,000 square feet
i believe that hedgehogs have a waterproof coat. not 100% sure. and they float.
100 feet
10,000 square feet.
300 feet = 100 yards
14 beasts and 22 birds I agree. Let b = birds (2 legs each) Let a = animals (4 legs each) So 2b + 4a = 100 and b + a = 36 2b + 2a = 72 and 2a = 28 So a = 14 animals or beasts Then b + 14 = 36 and b = 22
I think that there were 40 boys and dogs since there were forty heads but, I'm not sure because the feet part kinda confuses me. The answer would be 40 boys and 5 dogs (but dogs don't technically have feet, they have paws?) If you saw 40 heads, you wouldn't be able to see the dogs head, unless they were as tall as the boys? No your over thinking it. It's 30 kids and 10 dogs = 40 heads. Then 30 x2=60 and 10x4=40 so 60+40= 100 legs
