72=2*2*2*9; 2, 2, 2,and 29 are all prime, thus this is the prime factorization.

In general, a prime factorization is a list of primes that comprise the number. For instance, 100: 100=2*50=2*2*25=2*2*5*5 => prime factorization is 2^2*5^2
