Sorry- that only tells us that the revolver was made AFTER April 1899. S&W made NUMEROUS different models, including caliber .32 S&W and caliber .32 Winchester Center Fire (.32 WCF, aka 32-20). Contrary to popular belief, a serial number is not unique to only one gun. You best route may be to take the UNLOADED revolver, and visit a gun show in your area. There will likely be a dealer/ collector that can identify it for you.
Not sure we understand your question. Various firearm patents (and there are tens of thousands of them) are on file with the US Patent Office. If you have a patent number, or a date, that can be searched using a search engine such as Google Patent. If you mean where is it marked on a firearm- it could be anywhere- or nowhere- they are not required to be marked.
The earliest patent for a revolver was issued in 1818, for a flintlock revolver. There were other patents for revolvers, but the most significant was the Colt patent, which issued in England in 1835 and in the US in 1836. The specific thing that was patented was not the revolver, but a revolver designed in such a way that the cylinder was rotated and locked by the action of cocking the hammer.
Colt received patents on his design from England and France in 1835, and from the United States in 1836.

S. patent was patent No. 1304, dated August 29, 1836. This patent protected the basic design of his revolving-breech loading, folding trigger firearm named the Paterson pistol. Previous to his American patent he had been awarded a patent in England (1935) for the same design.1836Samuel Colt invented the first revolver, a gun named after its inventor "Colt", and after its revolving cylinder "revolver". In 1836, Samuel Colt was granted a U.S. patent for the Colt revolver, which was equipped with a revolving cylinder containing five or six bullets and an innovative cocking device.
