What is the relation between sphere and cone?

The ancient Greek mathematician Archimedes proved that the volume of a sphere is four times that of the cone with base equal to a great circle of the sphere and height the radius of the sphere. Maybe this is what the poser of the question meant.

How can you prove that the volume of a sphere is equal to the volume of a cylinder provided their radii are equal and the height of the cylinder is equal to the diameter of the sphere?

I'm quite sure this is impossible to prove, because the volume of a sphere is not equal to the volume of a cylinder with the same radius and height equal to the sphere's diameter. This can be shown as: Volume of sphere = (4*pi*r3) / 3. Volume of cylinder = pi*r2*h. Here, the height, h, of the cylinder = d = 2r. So, the volume of the cylinder = pi*r2*2r = 2*pi*r3, which obviously does not equal the volume of the sphere. The volume of half a sphere (with radius r) is equal to the volume of a cylinder(whose height is equal to its radius, r) minus the volume of a cone with the same height and radius. Therefore, the volume of a sphere is just double that. If you follow the nearby link, you can see a nice demonstration of that.

What is radius equal to?

Radius is half of the diameter - i.e. it is the distance from the centre to the edge of the circle.

Why is the circumference of a circle diameter times pi or 2 radius times pi?

Because 2 times the radius is equal to the diameter of the circle

What lies on a sphere and divides the sphere into two hemispheres?

An equator is a circle that divides the surface of an object into two equal halves. The term is usually used to explain the circle that divides a plane,t like the Earth, in to two hemispheres.

Is the area of a circle of radius 14 units equal to the surface area of a sphere of radius 7 units?

surface_area_sphere = 4 × π × radius_sphere² = π × (2 × radius_sphere)² area_circle = π × radius_circle² These are equal when: π × radius_circle² = π × (2 × radius_sphere)² → radius_circle² = (2 × radius_sphere)² → radius_circle = 2 × radius_sphere As the given circle has a radius of 14 units and the given sphere has a radius of 7 units, and 14 = 2 × 7, it is true that the area of a circle with a radius of 14 units is the same as the surface area of a sphere with a radius of 7 units.

What is a great cicle?

Much bigger and better than a regular circle... But seriously, a great circle on a sphere is a circle that runs along the surface of that sphere and cuts it into two equal halves. It is the largest circle that can be drawn on a given sphere. The center of any great circle is the center of the sphere.

The surface area of a sphere can be approximated as follows Surface area 4 and pir2 where r is the radius of the sphere and pi is a constant that is roughly equal to 3. Using the simple?
