I'm assuming you have some idea what scientific notation is, hence, i shall not completely explain it, but in a nut shell its;

the number is always under 10. Never more than 9.

It always ends with 10^..... ( ten to the power of "....")

It it's positive, the decimal point moves to the right. if it's negative, it moves to the left.

thats it in a very small nutshell.
