6636 = 2 x 3318 =2 x 2 x 1659 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 553 = 2 x 2 x 3 x 7 x 79 Numbers are therefore 79 and 2 x 2 x 3 x 7 ie 84. to write this as an algebraic equations you would have x+y=163 and X x Y =6636. solving 2 equations with 2 unknowns: x=163-y and y=6636/x... personally I like the way the first responder used factoring to find the answer.
