IF the question means: What number, multiplied by 2, and reducing the answer by 9, gives a result that is greater than 11?

ANSWER: Any number greater than 10.

Let's try 11.

2 x 11 = 22.

22 - 9 = 13, which is greater than 11.

But if we try 10 ...

2 x 10 = 20.

20 - 9 = 11, but 11 is not greater than 11! So we need a higher number than 10.

Try it for yourself with ANY number greater than 10!

Alternative answer.

If the question means "What number decreased by 9, and then doubled, produces a number greater than 11?"...

... then work it out this way, working backwards:

What number is greater than 11?

We could say '12' is greater than 11.

Half of 12 is 6. Add 9 to 6 = 15.

So, now, let's try 15.

15 decreased by 9 is 6.

Twice that number is .... 12 (2 x 6), which is greater than 11!

But this would work for ANY number from 15 upwards!

If you are writing it out, it should be n(number), which is n^2-9>11
