RAM (Random Access Memory) is the fastest fast. But no device can locate a data item exactly immediately.
The access mode where a device can locate a particular data item or file immediately is known as direct access or random access. In this mode, data can be retrieved without having to read through other data sequentially, allowing for instantaneous access to specific locations. This is commonly used in devices like hard drives and solid-state drives, where data can be accessed directly based on its address.

"Seek time" refers to the amount of time it takes for a storage device, such as a hard drive, to locate and access specific data on the disk. It is measured in milliseconds and is an important factor in determining the overall performance of the storage device. Lower seek times indicate faster access to data.
Access Time measured in MHz
In a magnetic disk drive, a special device called a read/write head is used to read data from and write data to the magnetic disk. The head floats just above the surface of the spinning disk, allowing it to access the magnetic fields that represent stored data. As the disk rotates, the head moves across the surface to locate the appropriate data tracks, enabling fast access to information.

When data is deleted, it’s not immediately gone—storage space is just marked as available. Until overwritten, tools like MobiKin Doctor for Android can scan the device, locate deleted files, and recover them safely. Using your device after deletion may reduce recovery chances.
access time
If the data is not in the cache already the storage device sends the data requested to a cache, which results in a wait stage, when the data has been copied to the cache it can then be transferred to the requesting device. Caches have faster transfer rates than that of your typical storage devices, thus when the request is sent to the cache for the data it can be transferred a lot faster than if it is transferred from the storage device, the data is then also not deleted immediately so if the data is required again, there is no wait stage and the data can be transferred immediately.
An access time is the time interval between the issuing of a request to send data from or write data to a storage device and the completion of this action.
Direct access allows data to be retrieved instantly without having to sequentially search through other items stored before the desired data item. This method enables quick and efficient retrieval of specific data items from a storage device.
