What are 5 real life applications of Hooke?

Many people seem willing to accept any sort of spring-like device as an application of Hooke's Law. If this is true of you then any of the following things obey Hooke's Law to some extent: elastic bands, coil springs, a length of rope, a lamp post, the leaf springs in some cars. In each case the deformation of the object is proportional to the force applied.

However, people were using springs before Hooke established his law. In my opinion, to be an application of Hooke's Law something must make actual use of it. Unfortunately I can't think of five applications in this sense. I can think of only three.

1. Hooke's Law may be used for the initial, crude design of a spring. Since there are many factors in spring design and since Hooke's Law applies only over a limited range of forces much more sophisticated engineering must be done to obtain a final design for a spring.
2. Kitchen scales: These depend on springs. The greater the weight of, say, flour or sugar placed in the scale's pan the greater the deformation of the scale's spring and the greater the weight that registers on the scale.
3. Torque wrenches: Used by mechanics to measure how tightly nuts and bolts have been screwed down. The harder the nut or bold is to turn, the greater the deformation of part of the torque wrench, the greater the torque that registers on the tool's scale.
