Well, for starters, there is teh extreme disadvantage of having molten lava gushing out of the top of the volcano and destroying everything in its path. Besides that, the gases and ashes spit out of volcanoes can kill people very quickly. Volcanoes also contribute to the greenhouse gases which is bad for people like Al Gore, even though volcanoes have been around millions of years before human beings.
