Two step equations are really simple these are the steps...

EX.

7x+2=23

do the opposite operation so u subtract 2 from both sides

7x=21

now since 7x is multiplying , you do the opposite and you divide both sides

7x/7=21/7

the 7 from 7x and the seven you divided by cancel out each other so now you only have x

on the other side 21 divided by 7= 3 so the answer is

x=3

Equations can be tricky, and solving two step equations is an important step beyond solving equations in one step. Solving two-step equations will help introduce students to solving equations in multiple steps, a skill necessary in Algebra I and II. To solve these types of equations, we use additive and multiplicative inverses to isolate and solve for the variable.
