I never try to factor these but use the quadratic equation to solve these.

X = - b (+/-) sqrt(b2 - 4ac)/2a

a = 2

b = - 3

c = - 20

X = - (- 3) (+/-) sqrt[(- 3)2 - 4(2)(- 20 )]/2(2)

X = 3 (+/-) sqrt( 9 + 160)/4

X = 3 (+/-) sqrt(169)/4

X = [3 (+/-) 13]/4

=================so,

X = 4

X = - 5/2
