If defined, they are inverse operations. However, multiplication and division is a somewhat flawed example because division by 0 is not defined.

So, if you have a number x, then x*0 = 0 but 0/0 is not x: it is not defined.

Is Multiplication communicative?

The multiplication most people are familiar with which you probably learned in school, IS commutative - that's the multiplication of integers, as well as real numbers in general. There are some other operations which mathematicians call "multiplication" which are NOT communitative; for example, the multiplication of matrices, or the cross-product of vectors.

What do you call the order use to do arithmetic in a numerical expression?

It is known as BIDMAS (UK) or PEMDAS (US) BIDMAS = Brackets, Index, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction. or PEMDAS = Parentheses, Exponent, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction. There is no porder between DM/MD and between AS: Division and multiplication are to be carried out left to right. Addition and subtraction are to be carried out left to right.
