All problems at work are stressful. Some, however, are put into the "more stress than I can handle" category. The difficult problems you can solve are no longer as stressful.

Facts to remember:

* A stressful problem goes away if you solve it. * Companies want problems resolved and will help you solve unique problems * Keep in mind that no matter how stressful the problem (assuming you haven't shot the boss or cratered the company) there is probably a way out. * If you resolve the problem put ithe solution down in a memo. Tell your boss or co-workers how you did it. Work up a "How to solve Problems" guide for your department

Follow these steps:

# Identify what the problem is. # Is it totally new? Has anyone handled a problem like it before? What did they do? Did it work? Do this solution again. (It is better to ask and look like a fool than to prove you are one by really messing up) # If the problem is brand new - does it look like a previous problem? If yes, go back to previous suggestion. If no follow next steps. # If the resolution of the problem is not within your job specs get help from who ever has the power. # If the problem is to be handled by you identify what the resolved problem would look like. What would one step before this point look like, and before that and before that. When you get to where you are now, work back along the route you have just produced to solve the problem
