Is it just stamped on one peice of the gun? I have a 5100 12g and each section (Stock, forestock and barrel) are stamped with a number (8WGK) to identify that they go together, kind of like a serial number.

What is the value of a Springfield Arms model 1929 and where can you get parts for it?

In Fort Wayne,In. at the H&H gun shop they have a springfield 1929 single shot 12 ga.in excelent condition for $69.95. Very attractive shotgun. Do you mean to tell me that my Springfield A. 1929 Model Single Shot 12 ga. is only worth $70, that cannot be right. Its not in the blue book, so where is the right value? Why do you think your Springfield Arms shotgun is valuable? You should be able to find it in the Blue Book if you look under Stevens Arms. I know it is in the Standard Catalog of Firearms. Springfield was the economy grade of Stevens which was the second-tier division of Savage. It's a good and serviceable shotgun, but it's still a single shot, break-action, utility gun. You can buy a brand-new Baikal or Boito for $80, so a second-hand gun is going to be less.

How do you research the serial number of a Springfield Model 1873 trap door rifle The receiver is stamped 988 On the right side of the stock is stamped with the number 25?

According to research by Waite and Ernst (The Trapdoor Springfield), your 1873 was manufactured in the last quarter (Oct/Dec) 1873. The number '25' on the stock is probably a rifle rack number so that it could quickly be placed back where it belonged in an arms room.

What is the value of a 1929 Model Montgomery Ward Hercules 410 shotgun?

Wards Hercules 410 was made by different manufacturers through out it's history. The early models from the 1920's had no model number just "PROOF TESTED 410 GAUGE" stamped on the left side and "SELECTED FORGED STEEL" stamped on the right side of the barrel. Model numbers were stamped on later guns. They usually don't fetch much $$
