chalazeon are generally as a result of chronic stye. when effective treatment is not taken for the swelling of stye, its results in hard cyst-like formation called chalazeon. there is no damage but it doesnt look good cosmetically, for a larger chalazeon - a simple surgical procedure is the best way to treat it. there is no left-over scar since this procedure is "not" over the eye-lid but done from the inside surface of the lid.
