Every point on the graph has a pair of numbers that tell exactly where the point is.

-- The first one tells what number on the x-axis the point is directly over (or under).

-- The second one tells what number on the y-axis the point is directly right (or left) of.

These two numbers are called the 'x' and 'y' coordinatesof the point.
