This shortcut is used to move to your first tab in your web browser. If you press the other numbers like 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 it allows you to move to the second, third ,fourth , fifth , sixth, seventh , eight and seventh.

The action assigned to shortcut keys can be different in different applications. In the case of Microsoft Excel, Ctrl+1 is a useful shortcut to the format dialog, where you can assign cell formats, borders, etc.
Ctrl + 1
You can do it in several ways. First select what you want to italicize. You can click on the I icon to do it. You can press the Ctrl - I keyboard shortcut. You can press the Ctrl - 3 shortcut. You can go to the Format Cells, by pressing Ctrl - 1 and then go to the Font tab and set the Font Style to italics.
Ctrl - 1. In other words, press and hold the Ctrl key and press the 1 key.
Here are just some of the useful ones for Microsoft Word. Ctrl - L to left align. Ctrl - R to right align. Ctrl - E to centre. Ctrl - J to justify. Ctrl - M to indent. Ctrl - Q to decrease the indent. Ctrl - T for a hanging indent. Ctrl - Spacebar to remove all formatting. Ctrl - 2 to set double line spacing. Ctrl - 5 for 1.5 line spacing. Ctrl - 1 for single line spacing.

CTRL + 1 = First Tab Change the 1 with whatever other tab, and it switches to that tab.
Here is the shortcut on a PC: Alt 155 (press the Alt key, then type 1 1 5 on the number keypad, not the number keys on the top line of the keyboard) ¢ :)

You can right click on the Quick Access Toolbar (upper left hand corner) and then click "Customize Quick Access Toolbar." Then click the button that says "New Slide" then click "OK." Then you have your shortcut to "New Slide" in the Quick Access Toolbar.
