The reason you can see your breath in cold weather is because the water vapor in your breath is condensing (condensation). You can't see it in hot weather because condensation can't occur in warmer weather.

What happens to your breath when it is -90 degress Fahrenheit outside?

The water droplets in your breath would simply freeze more quickly than when it is a less extreme temperature (e.g. 10 degrees Fahrenheit). Your breath may appear to "sink" more quickly than in more normal temperatures, but little else would change. However, the likelihood of -90 degrees Fahrenheit in populated areas, those outside of Antarctica, the extreme Arctic, and the peaks of tall mountains, is small-even in those areas. The coldest temperature ever recorded was -129 degrees Fahrenheit at Vostok Station, Antarctica on July 21st, 1983; so while -90 degrees is certainly possible, it is incredibly unlikely outside of the poles and the tops of the tallest mountains in the world.

Why can you see your breath on a cool day?

if it is 32 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 degrees Celsius, than when you breathe out the water in your breath condenses in the air

How hot is your breath when you exhale?

Why is there fog in the winter?

Condensate is the correct term, Human breath will condense ( for a water vapor) when the outside temperature ( static, not wind chill) is at or below 50 degrees Fahrenheit or l0 degrees centigrade. This is some distance between the freezing point of water, 32 degrees F, or 0 Centigrade. If you can see your breath it is fifty degrees or below this mark. Handy rule of thumb.

How can you see your breathe when it cold outside?

Your breath is substantially colder than the outside air... when your warm breath suddenly is immersed in that cold air, it forms condensation.

Why is air warm when you exhale?

It is usually warmer, but not always. The temperature of the interior of your body is about 98-99 degrees Fahrenheit. So when you breathe in air that's cooler than that, the air is warmed by your lungs, and so it's warmer when it comes out. However, if the air you're breathing in is hotter than your body temperature, like say 105 degrees in the desert, the air will actually be cooled by your lungs, and will come out cooler than when it went in.
