40170
4017 IC is a counter, divider integrated circuit. It is a decade counter that has 10 different decode outputs and is commonly called a CMOS.
what is the function of ic 4017 in clapswitch?
The IC 4017 works as a digital counter and decoding unit. The circuit can count from 0 to 10 and has 16 prongs with LEDs that light up as each prong is being utilized.
the CMOS 4017 is a decade counter and when you send a pulse to the input it will make the outputs count e.g. LEDS
what--?
20 led can be powered from a single 4017 output X-ZONE ( PRANJAL)
Depending on the package type and where you buy it, one 4017 costs somewhere between $0.30 and $1.00 US.

The 4017 is a 5-stage divide-by-10 "Johnson counter" with 10 decoded outputs and a carry out bit. The 4000 series are CMOS devices. In TTL, the 74142 is also designed as a decade counter, which makes it functionally equivalent to the primary mission of the 4017. But it can't be called "equivalent" in any other respect, because of the usual wide array of differences in power requirements and input and output impedances between CMOS and TTL technology.
4017 chips count a sequence of 10 events, outputting to 10 outputs, any of which can be connected to reset to count up to any number you want. You could use them to activate other things after a certain amount of time, but in most other cases, other chips will do better (e.g. 4081+4510+4511 to make a digital clock)
