26% of 82 is 0.26*82 = 21.32. So if we want to increase 82 by 26 % (of 82) we just add the two together: 82 + 21.32 = 82 + 0.26*82 = 82*(1+0.26) = 82*1.26 = 103.32

Take the percentage and divide it by 100. Add 1 to that number, and multiply your original number by this number. Remember that if you want to substract a percentage, make your percentage a negative number before adding 1 to it.
