So the cat sits in the box for an hour. Remember, there is a 50/50 chance that the cat could be alive or dead. Now, this experiment basically shows that things on our level don't work the same as on the quantum level, because on the quantum level, things can be in between two solid states, such as dead or alive, rather than having to be in only one state. But obviously, this doesn't work on our level because a cat can only be dead or alive, and not in between. If someone were to open the box, the cat would either have been dead or alive, and at no point in between these states. But on the quantum level, they could be in between two states, and that observing it would cause it to collapse into one of the states.
