What is a 8a-15 equals -3?

This shouldn't be too hard for you if you know the basic concept and the way in which these questions are solved.

(basically by ur Q im guessing you want 'a' on its own)

8a - 15 = -3 (pretend that the '=' sign is a bridge and you want all the numbers without a letter next to them to be on on side and you want the number with letters next to them to be on the other side)(also when you bring '-15' onto the other side, it goes from a negative number to a positive number because it crossed the bridge)

so it should look like this 8a = -3 + 15

you should be ale to solve this. it should look like this: 8a = 12

next divide 12 by 8 and you should get 12/8 = 3/2 so a = 3/2
