How do you simplify logs?

It all depends on the problem. logs can be added or subtracted if they have the same base. If not you must use a change of base formula t convert them to the same base. Use rules of logs after doing all the algebraic simplification possible to convert the problem back to an algebra problem and solve. logb x + logb y = logb (xy) sum becomes a product logb x - logb y = logb (x/y) difference becomes a quotient a logb x = logb (xa) coefficicent becomes an exponent rearrange the euation until there is only one log = a number or one log = 2nd log apply rules of inverse log ..... solve the problem l
