It is an over-simplified chemical formula which is just plain wrong. For example, acetylene is C2H2 and benzene is C6H6. Nobody would write these as CH.

What is an emperical formula?

An empirical formula represents the simplest whole-number ratio of atoms in a compound. It does not provide information about the actual number of atoms present in a molecule. To determine the empirical formula, one must divide the subscripts of the compound's molecular formula by the greatest common divisor to obtain the simplest ratio.

The empirical formula is always the accepted formula for what?

The lowest whole-number ratio of atoms in a molecule

How do ionic compounds and the empirical formula relate?

The formula unit for an ionic compound is similar to an empirical formula in that both give the simplest whole-number ratio of atoms of each element in a compound.

What is an empircal formula?

The empirical formula of a chemica compound is the simplest positive integer ratio of atoms of each element present in a compound.

What is the formula of imperical?

The simplest ratio of atoms of each element within a compound

What is molucler formula?

A molecular formula is what determines the definite amount of atoms in a chemical compound. It gives the number and type of atoms in the compound.

Emperical formula give the smallest whole number ratio of atoms in a compound

What formula shows the simplest possible combining ratio of the atoms in any type of compound?

The empirical formula.

What is the empirical formula for the compound below C10H25O5?

C2H5O. Empirical formula is the simplest integer ratio of atoms.

What type of chemical formula shows only the simplest ratio of atoms in a compound?

You think probable to a molecular formula.

What information is given by a molecular formula?

the empirical formula and the molar mass

What is the simplest part of a compound?

The simplest form for a compound, called the empirical formula, gives the simplest whole-number ratio of the elements in the compound, and may differ from the actual molecular formula. For example, the molecular formula for glucose is C6H12O6. The empirical formula would be CH2O, which can be found by dividing the molecular subscripts by 6.
