If the bar has a central axis that includes the fixed point, it's an axle. If the bar is affixed to the point and the axis of the bar is skewed with reference to the point, it's a lever. We're not splitting hairs here. There are some possibilities that were not addressed in the question, and it is hoped they were covered here. In the case of the axle, it isn't tough to visualize that. In the latter case, think of the bar as the handle of a dog on a marine hatch. Use the link below to see a picture.

Why is a rigid bar that rests on a fixed point called a fulcrum?

The rigid bar is not called a fulcrum! And, by the same token, why is the bar called a bar?

What does a bar that turns around a fixed point mean?

The bar is a rigid straight finite object that is attached to one fixed point. The bar can be moved but the point where it is attached must stay where it is. In theory, therefore, the bar can be rotated around that fixed point in any direction. At the level of mathematics that your question suggests, the bar is movable in only one plane.

How Can a compound pendulum be treated as a simple pendulum?

the period T of a rigid-body compound pendulum for small angles is given byT=2π√I/mgRwhere I is the moment of inertia of the pendulum about the pivot point, m is the mass of the pendulum, and R is the distance between the pivot point and the center of mass of the pendulum. For example, for a pendulum made of a rigid uniform rod of length L pivoted at its end, I = (1/3)mL2. The center of mass is located in the center of the rod, so R = L/2. Substituting these values into the above equation gives T = 2π√2L/3g. This shows that a rigid rod pendulum has the same period as a simple pendulum of 2/3 its length.

Which shape is more rigid a square or triangle?

triangle, because of the structural stability of the shape. it is the simplest geometric figure that will not change shape when the lenghth of the sides are fixed

What is rigid or semi-rigid?

Rigid is immovable, unbending. Semi-rigid can move in a limited way.

What is a simple machine that has a rigid bar that pivots around a point?

The stiff rod to which you are referring is a LEVER. The pivot point is the Fulcrum.

On what point does a lever pivot?

In mechanics, a rigid bar that pivots about one point and that is used to move an object at a second point by pressure applied to a third point. The pivot therefore is variable according to the weight of the object to be moved

What is the term for the point on which a lever pivot?

The fulcrum. A Lever is a rigid rod to which a force can be applied to overcome a resistance. The point at which a lever pivots is called the fulcrum.

What Will Be The Degree Of Freedom Of A Rigid Body If one point of the body fixe?

The degree of freedom of a rigid body when one point of the body is fixed is zero. This means that the rigid body has no motion at all as it is completely pinned down by the fixed point. Any movement of the rigid body would cause it to become non-rigid.The degrees of freedom of a rigid body are expressed in terms of six independent parameters which are:Translation in three orthogonal directionsRotation around three orthogonal axesWhen one point of the rigid body is fixed the body cannot move in any of these directions resulting in a degree of freedom of zero.

What is known as rotation?

Any rigid body can rotate if it moves repeatedly about a fixed axis. If the axis is inside the body that is also called revolving.
