One is a three-sided figure with two sides of equal length; the other is a four-sided figure with one pair of parallel sides.
A square is 4 sided with sides of equal length and angles of equal measure A triangle is a three sided CLOSED figure
Polygon is a two dimensional figure that has three or more sides. Polygons are classified by their number of sides. Three sided is a triangle. A four sided figure is a quadrilateral. Isn't that an Isoceles Triangle?
A three-sided figure where all three sides are the same size.
Such a figure is called a square. Actually only one right angle is enough to force the the other angles to be right, and if three sides are equal, that forces all sides in such a figure to be equal. Exercise: Prove that any 4-sided figure( called a quadrilateral in math books) with three equal sides and one right angle is a square.
