you can either write it as: 1/2 or 0.5, or anything equal to those (5/10 or 0.500-anything that reduces to 1/2) if you can divide both the numerator and denominator by the numerator, and get 1/2, then you have found a fraction equivalent to one half :) the numerator is the number on top of the fraction, and the denominator is the number on the bottom.
1 half
It is equivalent to some fractions, not to others!

One half = 1/2.Multiply the numerator (top) and the denominator (bottom) of the fraction by any non-zero integer. You will have an equivalent fraction. One half = 1/2.Multiply the numerator (top) and the denominator (bottom) of the fraction by any non-zero integer. If a fraction is equivalent to one-half then the numerator is always half the denominator. Or, the double the numerator is the denominator. So, given any other fraction, p/q, if 2p < q then the fraction < 1/2 if 2p = q then the fraction = 1/2 if 2p > q then the fraction > 1/2
