To subtract fractions, you simply get a common denominator. To do so find the smallest number that in this case 5 and 3 go into, which would be 15. Then whatever number you need to multiply the denominator to get the lCM (The smallest number that both denominators go into) multiply that by the numberator.

So in order to get 5 to become 15 you must multiply by 3, so then you would multiply 4 by 3. Thus the first fraction become 12/15.

The same needs to be done with he second. In order to get 3 into 15 you need to multiply by 5. Thus the second fraction become 20/15.

Then simply subtract the two numerators.

12/15-20/15= -8/15, which becomes your answer
