Is it true with a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.08 the reaction time of the average driver doubles?

A study by the Traffic Injury Research Foundation found that, at BAC levels of .05 to .08, the risk of collision for drivers in the 20+ age group was about twice that of drivers with zero BAC. For young novice drivers (16- to 19 years of age) the crash risk at .05 to .08 was about eight times that of normal drivers! A 1994 research document released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also identifies impairment problems at .02 and states that "virtually all drivers are substantially impaired at .08 BAC. For an idea of how much it takes to reach .08: four beers on an empty stomach in one hour for a 170 lb. man; three for a 137 lb. woman.

When your driving and you have tow routes you can take, one with red lights that shorter, and one without red lights and is longer. You try and figure out the probability that you will hit the lightes all green and make it sooner, or go the long way and not chance it. Also the chance that you'll be in a meeting and your phone will ring, so do you turn the ringer off or chance it.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Ammar Qasim

Does alchol increase the risk of getting into a car crash?

Most definitely. Your reaction time when you have one drink is impaired. Drink 2 drinks and it is impaired even more. Alcohol causes 1 death every 30 minutes according to the NHTSA. That is around 17,500 deaths each year due to driving under the influence of alcohol. Those are deaths not just accidents. How many accidents it causes is considerably more.
