In the context that a parish serves a particular congregation or group of local members, the nearest equivalent in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ("Mormon church") is called "a unit".
The larger of these units is usually called "a ward".
If its membership size, however, is small, it is generally referred to as "a branch". Some can be so small as to actually be called, "dependent branches", where the Priesthood leadership and direction for the branch is actually dependent upon a nearby larger unit.
Various local wards or units when combined with other nearby units comprise an organized "stake", which is presided over by a stake president, and is highly organized. This arrangement might be closer to the Roman Catholic 'diocese'.
Advent is a period of 4 Sundays before Christmas it is in preperation for celebrating Christ's birth. You certainly could find out more about it by talking to any Catholic priest at a church parish.
I am not a Catholic, but I would think that they would follow the Biblical instruction, that "AS OFT(en) as ye (you) do it (in regards to the Lord's Supper/Eucharist/communion), think of me(Christ who is bread that was broken, and His blood symbolizing but not becoming the blood of Christ).Answer from an Ex-CatholicNo. As long as you comply with pre-requisites; Confessing your sin and done your penance. If you have not comitted any sin/s between communions, then you don't need to confess. You can take communion twice within a 24 hour period. You cannot take communion more than that in a 24 hour period.Addendum:It is perfectly okay to receive communion twice per day in the Catholic Church but no more than twice. However, let us say a person attends mass at 8:00 AM and then again a funeral or wedding mass later in the day. Then that person assists at an evening anticipated Mass to comply with the Sunday obligation. That person could receive again as the Church considers that to be a Sunday mass. So, the person received communion three times in a 24 hour period and it was completely within Church guidelines. I am aware of just such a situation that arose recently in my parish and the pastor said it was proper. It is perfectly okay to receive communion twice per day in the Catholic Church but no more than twice. It means spiritual guidance. The leader of a parish church is called a pastor, Latin for shepherd. Jesus Christ often referred to himself as the good shepherd who knows his sheep and they follow him.

A Catholic Parish is a designation of a geographical locale, established by the local Catholic diocese. It is the area that is identified as a single congregation of Catholic worshipers. A parish usually has one church in it, and one priest.
The smallest unit of the Catholic Church is the family, followed by the parish.
