Some of the advantage of the Extended Service Set (ESS) are that it allows for wider area of coverage and more users than the Basic Service Set (BSS) does. It has more integration tools available as well.
Some of the disadvantages are that it is not highly secure and there can be a possible roaming problem if Access Points from different vendors are used.
