The present name of Christiana is "Kristiansand," which is a city in Norway. It was originally founded in 1641 by King Christian IV of Denmark-Norway and was named after him. The name was changed to Kristiansand in 1877.
Kristiansand is one of Norway’s largest cities. It has dubbed itself “Norway’s Number One Holiday Resort.’ However, the title can be a little misleading. Many Norwegians do visit this area in the summer, but for the rest of the world, Kristiansand is simply a stop on the way to Norway’s coast and the region of Setesdalen. Still, Kristiansand is a nice place to visit. Recently, they have taken great lengths to clean up the pollution they were formerly notorious for. The people are friendly and the city does have some culture. There is a small harbor to visit, a nicely restored old town, some interesting museums, and a great park for children. All in all, Kristiansand may very well remain a layover spot for much of the world, but tourists should consider extending their stay to enjoy a little of this city’s charm. It may not be the most exciting place to stay, but it is certainly worth a short visit.
