The Russian "Tsar Bomba" is the largest known nuclear weapon. Only one was built. On the conventional side, the American BLU-82 was a 15,000 pound bomb that was the largest conventional weapon during Vietnam and the Gulf War. From this weapon came the GBU-43, massive ordnance air blast bomb (MOAB), sometimes referred to as the mother of all bombs. This 22,600 pound weapon was supposedly eclipsed by a Russian weapon (the father of all bombs) some 4 times as powerful, but the veracity of the claims has been called into question.
