Looking at the engine, the #1 cylinder will on your right hand side of the block, very first cylinder.
Looking at the engine - closest to the driver's side
If that is a 5.4 engine, bank 2 is on the drivers side of the engine. If you are looking for cylinder number 2, that would be on the passenger side, second one from the front.
Standing in front looking at the engine, the first cylinder up front on the passenger side is number 4.
Looking the the engine from the rear, Number 6 cylinder is the one furthest towards tot front of the car on the right hand side.
Standing at the front of the truck and looking at the engine, the cylinder closest to you is number 1, #2 is the 2nd, #3 is the 3rd, # 4 is the 4th and the last is #5
#1 cylinder is at the front of the engine ( 1, 2 , 3 , 4 front to rear )
Looking at it from the front of the car its the middle plug on the backside of the engine.
It starts on the side of the engine where the number one cylinder is. This varies by manufacturer, fore instance Chevrolet's number 1 is on the driver side Ford's number one cylinder is on the passenger side.
Cylinder 1 is the first/front cylinder on the right side of the engine looking from the front of the car. That bank is 1-3-5-7 and the left bank is 2-4-6-8.
