A function of one variable is of the form y=f(x) where all you need to know in order to get values for y is the value of the independent variable, x.

A function of two variables is of the form z=f(x,y) where you need to know the values of both x and y to get a value for z.

A linear equation is simply and algebraic equation where all variables, regardless of how many there are, are raised to the power of one.

What is the difference between correlation analysis and regression analysis?

In linear correlation analysis, we identify the strength and direction of a linear relation between two random variables. Correlation does not imply causation. Regression analysis takes the analysis one step further, to fit an equation to the data. One or more variables are considered independent variables (x1, x2, ... xn). responsible for the dependent or "response" variable or y variable.

The difference between the independent and dependent variables?

Independent variables are variables that can be changed in an experiment, while dependent variables are variables that change as a result of an experiment. In other words, independent variables are what you change, and dependent variables are the results of the experiment.

What is the difference between individual differences variables and manipulated variables?

An individual difference variable are variables that occur naturally and that a researcher cannot assign a participant to. These include gender, age, height, etc. A manipulated variable a researcher can assign a person to such as a placebo group vs the actual medicine.
