In math, squaring a number means that the number being squared is multiplied by itself. For example, if you were to square the number 3, it would muliply on itself. 3 x 3. Multiplying is just a way to get 3 with a different number. For example, 3 x 4. You could multiply 3 and 3, but it's pretty much just going to be 3 squared. I realize I fumbled a bit in this. Math was never my strong suit.
