What is the fastest road production car?

It depends on what you mean by fastest and what you mean by production car.

According to Wikipedia the SSC Ultimate Aero TT is the fastest production car in terms of top speed (257.44 mph- beating out the Bugatti Veyron by 4 mph). But with only 24 Ultimate Aeros produced it's a stretch calling it a "production car." Also, does a high top end really make a car the "fastest?" (I think cars with such short runs take liberties to be called production cars. The Aero TT shouldn't count, and I don't think that many Veyrons have been made either)

The new 2010 Dodge Viper ACR recently set the fastest recorded production car lap time ever at the gruelling Nurburgring, beating out the previous record set by the Corvette ZR-1 by over 4 seconds and the Nissan GT-R by over 7 seconds. Since the Nurburgring is such a long and complicated track the fastest lap time requires rapid acceleration and braking, high top speed for the very long straightaway, and excellent handling characteristics for the many twists and turns. The Viper handles all of the above with ease, and by this measure, it is the undisputed king of production cars. (That's your opinion, and the question asks which car is fastest, not which completes a certain track the quickest.)

In 2010, the 2010 Ferrari was voted (by whom?) the fastest car in the world with its twin turbine engine, 460 horse power and it's speed meter of 1-60 in half a second. (what top speed?)
