The GCF of 10 and 20 is 10.

10 will go into itself once, and into 20 twice.

When considering two numbers and attempting to find the GCF, if the smaller will divide into the larger without remainder, that smaller number will be the GCF of the two numbers. In the case of 10 and 100, the 10 will divide into the 100 exactly 10 times. (It divides into itself once.) That means 10 is the GCF there. In the case of 12 and 144, the 12 will go into 144 exactly 12 times. That makes 12 the GCF of the two numbers. It's just that easy.
